Onion Gojju/Gotsu
Ingredients
Onions - 1 cup (small)
Tamerind extract - 1 cup (diluted)
Gingali oil - 2 tsp
Musturd - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Green chillies - 2
Asafortida
Salt - to taste
Method
In a Kadai add oil, musturd and let it splutter.
Add green chillies and onions and cook well.
Add tamarind extract, turmeric powder and salt. Let it boil.
Once the raw flavor vanishes, add idly chilli powder and cook well.
Let it boil till it becomes thick.
Now add asafortida and coriander leaves.
Our gojju/gotsu is ready.
Note: This is like a kaarakozhambu and is served along with hot ghee pongal, dosai, idly, upma and rice.
