Potato podimas
Ingredients
Potatoes - 1 cup (boiled)
Green chillies - 2 tsp (finely chopped)
Coriander leaves - handful (finely chopped)
Lemon essence - 2 tsp
Salt - to taste
For tempering
Coconut oil - 1 tsp
Musturd - 1 tsp
Channadal - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Method
In a bowl, add the potatoes and chillies and mash well.
In a Kadai, add oil, musturd and let it splutter.
Now add both the dals and let them splutter too.
Now add turmeric powder and turn off the flame and add this too the potatoes.
Mix well and add coriander leaves. Let it rest and cool down.
Finally add the lemon essence to it and mix well.
Serve it with onion sambar rice or any spicy rice varieties.
Note:
If this podimas is left out, we can make it into small small balls and dip it into bajji batter and make spicy and tangy bonda from this.
