Thakkali rasam
Ingredients
Tomatoes - 4
Thoor dal - 1/4 cup (boiled)
Tamarind paste - 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Salt - to taste
Coriander leaves - hand full
Gingali oil -1tsp
Jaggery - 1tsp
Asafortida - 1 pinch
To grind
Red chilli - 1
Tomato - 1
For Rasam powder
Pepper - 2 tsp
Geera - 3 tsp
Dhanya - 1 tsp
To temper
Ghee or Gingali oil - 2 tsp
Red chilli - 1
Musturd - 1 tsp
Geera - 2 tsp
Pepper - 1tsp
Chennadaal -1/2 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - 4 to 5
Method
Grind the tomato and chilli and keep it aside.
Dilute the tamarind paste and boiled dal separately and keep them aside.
Now in a Kadai, add oil, tomato-chilli paste, let the raw flavour vanish.
Add tamarind extract, turmeric powder and salt to it.
Once the raw flavours vanishes, add 3/4th portion of chopped tomatoes, green chillies and diluted daal.
Once the tomatoes get cooked, add red chilli powder and water to it.
Add jaggery to it and let it boil well.
Dry roast and powder the ingredients mentioned above.
Now add the powder and remaining tomatoes and let it get cooked for 3 mins.
In a pan, add ingredients to temper one after another and add this to the rasam.
Add asafortida and coriander leave.
Enjoy it hot hot with potato roast or pappad!!! 😋😋😋😋
